Opta supercomputer predicts how much more likely Tottenham are to get relegated than West Ham

Indeed, West Ham are above Spurs in the Premier League table and will be with five games remaining this season.

While West Ham need to beat Crystal Palace on Monday regardless of Spurs dropping more points, they are still in a slightly better position than Spurs before a ball is kicked at Selhurst Park.

According to the famed Opta supercomputer, Spurs remain statistical favourites for relegation.

Tottenham handed 54.82% chance of relegation, West Ham given 36.74%

After Roberto De Zerbi’s men threw two points away at home to Brighton in a dramatic 2-2 draw on Saturday evening, Tottenham’s chances of relegation increased.

The predictions calculated by Opta’s supercomputer give them a 54.82% chance of relegation. The likelihood of West Ham going down instead – at least in their view – is 35.10%.

    MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Spurs are a point behind West Ham in the Premier League table but, crucially, they have played a game more than the Irons.

As such, Monday night’s game offers Nuno Espirito Santo’s side the chance to open up what would be a significant gap.

Though not to overlook the quality that Palace boast, a victory would put West Ham four points clear of their big rivals with only five games to play.

While West Ham have to focus on themselves and not worry about what Spurs do, it’s tempting not to think safety is really in sight if they can just keep up their momentum for the next few games at least.
