West Ham have Spurs waving white flag after desperate move by Roberto De Zerbi

West Ham have Spurs waving the white flag in the relegation battle after a desperate move by Roberto De Zerbi came to light.

There is no love lost between the Hammers and their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the best of times.

However, that rivalry is reaching new levels with West Ham and Spurs in a straight shootout to avoid relegation to the Championship.

It is advantage West Ham with five games to go – in more ways than one it would seem.

Advantage West Ham in relegation battle as Spurs show desperation

Because a desperate move from new Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi suggests West Ham have their old foes fearing the worst.

West Ham have a literal advantage over Spurs, sitting a place and two points above them in the Premier League table.

Do you feel BETTER or WORSE about West Ham’s survival chances after gameweek 33? 🤔

Let’s not forget that she also had a hand in lopegui, and most definitely in Potter! It’s again a puff piece… Trying to rewrite history. West ham in the relegation zone, £104 million loss, a stadium not fit for purpose – and no “world class team in a world class stadium” – as she sputed out.

Leeds may continue ride their luck on Sunday and beat a very below par Chelsea side. You can’t compete against luck when bad lucks against you.I AM glad the Hammers aren’t at Wembley though and still fighting for survival.

Just finished watching the Bournemouth Leeds game.Talk about Jammy, they seem to be immune to Khama. They were 2nd best all night, the nature of their goals were bonkers. The Hammers’ luck travelled to Bournemouth for the evening.

Privately, Tottenham are at rock bottom mentally and are making one last desperate bid to turn things around by advertising for a sports psychologist to join them.

Spurs have posted a job advert for a new club psychologist to help heal the minds of their mentally drained players.

De Zerbi is said to have made the move after watching the reaction of his players to conceding a last minute equaliser against Brighton last week, which kept them in the bottom three – and West Ham out of it.

De Zerbi advertises for Spurs sports psychologist to help beat Hammers to survival

The likes of The Telegraph claim it has been De Zerbi’s call after he identified the need to work on the players’ minds and to instil confidence in his his players, who sank to the floor in despair after the draw with the Seagulls.

West Ham missed the chance to apply even more pressure to fragile Tottenham when they could only draw against an understrength and distracted Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Where would West Ham be NOW if Disasi had joined last summer? 🤔

Maybe survival would have been achieved already…

est Ham United's Konstantinos Mavropanos celebrates scoring his side's fourth goal with Axel Disasi during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers at London Stadium on April 10, 2026 in London, United Kingdom.

But it seems while De Zerbi is fronting that his team can pull off five wins to stay up, he knows the issues are deep-rooted with no easy fix.

So what do Spurs want from their new psychologist?

Well the club say they are seeking an “outstanding” candidate who will be immediately embedded into the first team and expected to make a “high impact”.

The advert, which is on job sites such as LinkedIn, states: “Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is committed to building a world-class performance environment for our Men’s First Team. As part of this ambition, we are seeking an outstanding Performance Psychologist to join our Performance Team. This is a high-impact role embedded within the Men’s First Team environment at Hotspur Way.

“Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will lead the delivery of evidence-based psychological support to elite professional players. The role encompasses individual player support, systemic work across the coaching and performance staff, and the ongoing development of a psychologically informed performance culture throughout the team.

“This role demands a practitioner who is credible, discreet, and highly effective in a Premier League environment, capable of building trust with players and coaches while operating with the professional rigour expected at the highest level of the game.”
