Dinos Mavropanos makes statement to West Ham board with superb display vs Crystal Palace

Dinos Mavropanos has sent a clear message to the West Ham hierarchy with his performance against Crystal Palace.

Mavropanos and Axel Disasi were probably the Hammers’ two best players as they kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw.

The Greece international’s superb display came just days after reports linked him with a summer exit from the London Stadium.

Mavropanos has now strengthened his position in negotiations with the West Ham board over the coming weeks.

Dinos Mavropanos strengthens position in West Ham contract talks

Hammers News revealed on Saturday that the club feels “calm” about Mavropanos’ future despite recent transfer rumours.

They do not believe Mavropanos really wants to move; instead, they have suggested his agent is trying to boost his bargaining position.

Well, assuming the central defender is keen to stay in East London, his contract demands may have risen after his latest display.

Alongside Disasi in the backline, Mavropanos was integral to West Ham’s point-winning performance at Selhurst Park.

Indeed, only Disasi (7.6) had a higher rating than Mavropanos (7.4) against Crystal Palace, according to WhoScored.

    The message is clear!

If you want Mavro, prepare to put your money where your mouth is… 💸💸💸

That’s true enough but (I don’t even want to think about it) if we go down his contract will have a clause saying he can walk away for next to nothing. Disasi had been awesome right from the get go but Chelsea will take him back and get stupid money for him! 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think a lot depends on whether Disasi stays. Having a solid, reliable partner next to you makes such a difference. Mavro has been lumbered with Aguerd/Kilman a lot of the time

In his first couple of seasons Mavropanos made Calvin Phillips look like Ronaldo. He’s having a blinder of a season now but if he stays which Mav will turn up in August?
