Rams given transfer hope as move to Championship rival ‘looking unlikely’
Derby County have been given fresh hope of signing Cody Drameh, according to a report.
Almost as soon as the season ended, in which John Eustace led the Rams to a survival that seemed so unlikely just a few weeks earlier, the boss was linked with a reunion with a player he managed at Birmingham City.
However, that quickly evaporated when it was claimed the Rams had a loan request rejected by his current club Hull City, who seemed to prefer a permanent transfer.
To that end Preston North End seemed the front runners, with Blackburn Rovers also said to have made enquiries about the former Leeds United man.
North End were said to be leading the race but now the Lancashire Post are reporting that ‘no further bids’ have been made and that a move to Deepdale is ‘looking unlikely’.
They say Hull’s asking price has been a stumbling block and that the 23-year-old ‘could now make the move’ to Pride Park. They cite Watford as potential rivals for full back’s signature.
Eustace signed Drameh for Birmingham in the summer of 2023 but only got to play him nine times before he was sacked and replaced by Wayne Rooney. He would go on to make 30 appearances for Blues before moving to Hull at the end of his Leeds contract last summer.
After just 17 Championship starts for the Tigers he looks to be on the move again in this transfer window, and while the Rams have Kane Wilson and oft-injured Ryan Nyambe at right back, Drameh can also play on the left.
