Paul Warne issues potential Dajaune Brown injury timeframe at Derby County after Hull City blow

Paul Warne has given an update over Derby County gem Dajaune Brown who limped off vs Hull City.

The Rams initially fell behind, but an improved second half showing saw them come back from a one-goal deficit.

Paul Warne looked to turn towards his bench to make a significant difference as Kenzo Goudmijn wasn’t making much of an impact and was therefore replaced by Ben Osborn.

Jerry Yates was also struggling when leading the line, meaning that Warne took a chance on youngster Dajaune Brown, who came up with the Derby County leveller and was ‘unbelievable’.

It was a brilliant showing by the Rams 19-year-old and one that easily could have handed him a start in the next game, however the dying minutes saw him pull up with an injury and was therefore replaced by Nat Phillips.

The Derby County boss has now revealed the extent of the injury at this early moment.

The Rams attacker was only brought on for his third substitute appearance of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, and after only previously accumulating 14 minutes, he was offered very little opportunity to make a difference.

However, Warne was content in giving Brown his moment in the final 30 minutes vs Hull City, which he seized, but it unfortunately ended prematurely.

Warne has since given an update on the attacker’s fitness, as he said, per DerbyshireLive: “We are playing with one striker at the moment and Jerry Yates has been leading the line really well. Dajaune [Brown] did himself no harm.

“He turned his ankle a little bit after that. I am not a physio but it’s not like he pulled his hamstring and he’ll be out for four to six weeks.

“I am hoping it will settle down quite quickly and we will manage it as we try and manage everyone.”

Dajaune Brown potential injury should not take away his moment for first team game time

It is certainly unfortunate for Brown, as whilst the potential injury looks like it is on the minor side, it could easily affect his chances of being in contention for the upcoming clash against Stoke City on Saturday.

Whilst he may not play next time out, his brilliant showing in the Hull City draw should not take away how deserving he is of more game time than he has been offered by Warne up until this stage in the 2024/25 season.

It is essential that Warne is given the green light top play Brown in regards to his fitness, but if he is fully fit, it will be a missed opportunity for the Derby County boss to get the best out of the attacker and would make his decision to keep him this summer that much more confusing if he isn’t utilised.
