The Newcastle United record that Eddie Howe could break in the midst of a crisis

Eddie Howe, despite all the pressure he’s been under this season, could set yet another Newcastle United record in the Premier League on Sunday.

Those who doubt Howe are not without their reasoning, but there’s little getting away from the fact he has been one of the finest Newcastle United managers to have ever graced the dugout.

Let us know your score prediction and why 👇

Indeed, records have fallen by the wayside during his tenure, and another could soon follow if his team get a positive result at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Newcastle could record five consecutive away wins against the same opponent for the first time

In the seven Premier League games Newcastle have ever played at the City Ground, they are unbeaten.

Three of those games have ended in draws, but they have won on their last four trips to one of the most storied venues in the history of English football.

How many more goals does William Osula need to score for people to take him seriously as a striker for next season? 🤔

Never before have Newcastle won five consecutive away games at the same venue in the top flight.

Clearly, actually breaking that record is by no means a foregone conclusion. In fact, it would be foolish to suggest that Newcastle are certain to even finish above Forest in the Premier League table when all is said and done

They, after all, are in much better form than the Magpies, slightly unconvincing win over Brighton aside.

Newcastle in crisis as history awaits

Still, it is certainly worth mentioning that Newcastle are on the verge of newfound territory in the Premier League under Howe. Does that answer every criticism of the manager? Clearly not.

The issues Howe is facing are plentiful. Newcastle have gone stale and if the season were to run any longer, they’d no doubt be in a relegation battle.

Recent results have been the biggest crisis of Howe’s Newcastle tenure and the win over Brighton doesn’t really pull him out of it.

It may have pulled Newcastle clear of the relegation zone but it will surely have done little to convince those who want Howe out that he really is the right man for the job.

Quite whether or not three points at the City Ground could do is also up for debate.

It would, however, create genuine history for Newcastle in the Premier League.
