Nick Woltemade ‘very unhappy’ as striker prepares to make big Newcastle United decision
The German media have an awful lot to say about Newcastle United right now – including an update on the future of Nick Woltemade.
Woltemade has lost his starting role for Newcastle United, with William Osula instead trusted to lead the line under Eddie Howe.
Where do YOU stand on the Nick Woltemade debate? 👀

During Saturday’s win over Brighton, fellow struggling striker Yoane Wissa was brought on instead of him.
Woltemade, it seems, is not happy about it.
Unhappy Woltemade to make decision on Newcastle future after the World Cup
Sky Sports Germany claim that the forward’s future is uncertain heading into the summer transfer window.
They add that the striker is “very unhappy” with his lack of playing time and simply wants to focus on preparing for Germany’s World Cup campaign this summer.
What do YOU make of Newcastle’s decision to keep Eddie Howe? 🤔

After that, it’s said, he will make a decision on his future on Tyneside. Still, a potential move to Bayern Munich – who are thought to be interested in Newcastle star Anthony Gordon too – is considered unlikely at this stage.
Woltemade’s lack of action at Newcastle explained
Part of the reason the German isn’t playing is down to the style in which Howe’s side operate. They generally prefer a forward with searing pace, which clearly the most expensive player in club history doesn’t have.
Another reason is his own struggles in front of goal, having not found the back of the net in the league since December (albeit for a lot of that time he’s been playing out of position).

Whether Howe should adapt his system is another debate entirely. Still, for now at least, that does not look likely, and the forward’s consistent omission proves it.
Osula is in fine form, while Wissa is much more of a stylistic fit to Alexander Isak – the man Newcastle have been trying to replace for months – than his German teammate.
That, frankly, isn’t really Woltemade’s fault. This is a failure of recruitment and a panic buy in plain sight.
It’s a shame that things could end on a sour note. At one point, it all looked so promising.
