Dodgers Announce Massive Roster Move, Acquiring 2 Pitchers And Placing 2 More on 60-Day IL

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a flurry of roster moves Thursday afternoon. Right-hander J.P. Feyereisen, who has previously spent time with L.A., was claimed off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers also acquired right-hander Ryan Loutos from the St. Louis Cardinals for cash considerations. In order to make room on the 40-man roster for both relievers, the Dodgers transferred Michael Kopech and Blake Treinen to the 60-day injured list.

Feyereisen was traded to the Dodgers from the Tampa Bay Rays ahead of the 2023; however, he did not play that season because he was rehabbing from an injury. In 2024, the right-hander made one appearance for the Dodgers against the San Diego Padres in the Seoul Series.

Feyereisen was optioned shortly after, and made a total of 10 big league appearances for the Dodgers throughout the 2024 campaign. He struggled mightily as he logged a 8.18 ERA with nine strikeouts across 11 innings pitched.

At the end of the season, the right-hander elected free agency and signed with the Diamondbacks in March.

Loutos was designated for assignment by the Cardinals earlier this week. The right-hander has not made a Major League appearance this season as he started the year with Triple-A Memphis. Loutos has a 3.38 ERA with six strikeouts across eight innings pitched in the minors.

After a rocky first appearance in 2025, the right-hander has since tossed seven scoreless innings.

The 26-year-old made three big league appearances for the Cardinals last season. Across 2.1 innings pitched, Loutos allowed just two hits and zero runs.

Manager Dave Roberts recently said the bullpen leading the league in innings was a concern, and it appears the Dodgers are hopeful the arrival Loutos and Feyereisen will provide help to an already overworked bullpen.

As for the corresponding moves, Kopech will now be out for at least another two and a half weeks, while Treinen will miss significant time with his forearm injury.
