$60 Million Indiana Pacers Star Could Be Trade Target For Miami Heat
There has not been much activity involving the Miami Heat when it comes to roster changes this offseason. It seems that they have decided to trust the players that they already have and are aiming to improve through getting healthy.
Injuries were without a doubt an issue for the Heat last season and one of the main reasons behind their disappointing campaign, which ended in a first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Boston Celtics.
But as teams around them have strengthened over the summer, especially in the East, there are fears that the Heat have been left behind.
If things do not start well for the franchise, they might need to shake things up and make a few much-needed changes.
In the article ‘Imagining Every NBA Team’s Top 3 Trade Targets This Season’, Grant Hughes has suggested Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers as a potential trade target for the Heat.
Explaining his choice, Hughes wrote: “Winters in Miami would feel a little different than they do in Indiana, and the Heat could do some exciting stuff on both ends with Turner and Bam Adebayo manning the frontcourt spots. Adebayo’s perimeter mobility would pair perfectly with Turner’s rim protection, and the spacing Turner offers as a shooter would bring offensive dimensions the Heat have rarely enjoyed.”
Turner has spent his entire career with the Pacers so far since being selected 11th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft.
The 28-year-old is a two-time NBA blocks leader. Over the course of his career, he has developed into a pretty efficient scorer as well. Someone like him could be a solid addition to the Heat roster.
Turner agreed to a two-year, $60 million contract extension with the Pacers in 2023 that included an additional $17.1 million renegotiation on his 2022-23 salary.
Of course, he is a fan favourite for the Pacers and also a pretty good fit with where they are as a team. So, it is more than likely that he will extend his run with the franchise. Never say never in the NBA though.
