Chicago Bulls part ways with Nikola Vucevic for the right trade offer from Utah Jazz for John Collins

Chicago Bulls Could Land $125 Million Forward in Nikola Vucevic Trade

The Chicago Bulls seem to be preparing for a monumental rebuild and it is believed that Nikola Vucevic is one of the veterans they are ready to part ways with for the right trade offer, after already saying goodbye to DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruson.

On the other, the Utah Jazz will be looking to build around a former Bulls star, Lauri Markkanen, after he signed a 5-year, $238 million contract with the franchise, putting an end to the constant speculation around his future.

Someone like Vucevic could be a good fit for the Jazz at this point in time. He would add some much-needed experience to the team and his strengths would complement that of Markkanen.

In an article on FadeAway World, Fran Leiva suggested a trade that would see Vucevic move to the Jazz for John Collins and 2025 First-Round Pick (via CLE).

Collins is entering the fourth year of his five-year, $125 million contract and is set to make $53.2 million over the next two seasons.

Of course, the first-round pick would be a positive for a team looking to rebuild. But on the other hand, Collins has been heavily criticised in recent times and the size of his contract does not match his output.

So, why would the Bulls want Collins? As Leiva wrote: “In return, the Bulls get John Collins, a younger player who can fill the power forward position and bring some much-needed athleticism and versatility. Collins has had his ups and downs, but a change of scenery could be just what he needs to get his career back on track. The addition of a 2025 first-round pick also gives the Bulls more flexibility as they continue to rebuild.”

It would not be an ideal move by any means but Collins has only two years left on his contract and the Bulls are not expected to compete anytime soon. So, they are in a position where they can afford to take a risk.
