Opta supercomputer issues new relegation verdict for West Ham and Tottenham with four games left

Both West Ham United and Tottenham won on Saturday as the Premier League relegation battle continues to heat up.

With firstly Leeds and now Nottingham Forest seemingly pulling away from trouble, it very much looks like a battle between West Ham United and Spurs to avoid joining them.

Who was YOUR MOTM vs Everton and why? 🎉🎉🎉

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are no further ahead of Spurs than they were at the start of the day given both teams won, but context is important.

There are now only four games left in this dramatic Premier League campaign and West Ham’s 2-1 win over Everton puts them in a great position.

West Ham given 37.35% chance of relegation, Tottenham 59.59%

According to the famous Opta supercomputer, West Ham are huge favourites to stay up ahead of Spurs.

The fact they won at Wolves is clearly unhelpful, but equally the fact the gap remains at two points towards the foot of the Premier League table is significant at this point.

Has Tomas Soucek silenced his doubters for good with THAT Everton goal?

Not a bad way to celebrate Prem start number 200…

    MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Indeed, Opta’s analytics give West Ham just a 37.35% chance of relegation. Spurs, meanwhile, are given 59.59%.

The margins are tight and nothing has yet been achieved. Still, the manner in which West Ham came back to score a late winner spoke to a group of players who truly believe.

Briefly before Wilson’s goal, things had started to look very bleak indeed. Still, no one can question this team’s character, which is quite the improvement on their situation only a few months ago.

West Ham have some hard games remaining but little about their form since mid-January onwards suggests that things will suddenly tail off from here.

They are in the driving seat. While the outside world watches on to see what happens with Spurs, it is the form of this West Ham side that is causing one of the biggest stories in sport right now.

Four games to go. The end is almost in sight.
