Rangers Battling Celtic to Sign Liverpool Star Amid ‘Verbal Agreement’

Rangers have now entered the race to sign Celtic target and Liverpool defender Andy Robertson, despite him reaching an agreement to join another club, according to a report from Calcio Napoli.

It was recently confirmed that Robertson would be leaving Anfield at the end of the season after a trophy-filled period with the Merseyside club.

The Scottish international will be available on a free transfer, and it remains to be seen where he will be spending next season.

Robertson has lost his place as the guaranteed starter at Liverpool after Milos Kerkez arrived through the door during the previous summer transfer window.

As a result, Robertson wasn’t offered a new deal at Anfield, and it’s an opportunity for him to explore other opportunities, with Rangers and Celtic linked with his signature.

According to a report from Calcio Napoli, Rangers have now joined Celtic in the race to sign Robertson on a free transfer later this year.

Napoli are also believed to be keen on the former Hull City man, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see others join the race, given his quality being available for nothing.

It’s claimed that Robertson earns in the region of £90k-a-week at Liverpool, which wouldn’t be a problem for Napoli, but it remains to be seen whether Celtic or Rangers would stump up that kind of cash.

Robertson being available for nothing might tempt Celtic or Rangers into offering slightly higher wages than they normally would, but it’s still a risky move if he’s earning a lot more than the rest of their squads.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Tottenham have reached an agreement in principle with Robertson over a move during the summer transfer window.

Nothing will be signed unless Tottenham remain in the Premier League, but Spurs are pushing again after previously trying in January.

Roberto De Zerbi is believed to want to add leadership to the dressing room, and Robertson would be adding exactly that if Spurs secure his signature.

Spurs’ potential relegation from the Premier League might open the door for either of Rangers or Celtic to make a move, so their supporters might be keeping a close eye on Tottenham’s results between now and the end of the season.
