Dinos Mavropanos leaves West Ham fans with little doubts after ‘immense’ Man City game

West Ham United fans have absolutely no doubt about who their Man of the Match was following the draw with Manchester City.

Indeed, West Ham took a major step towards securing Premier League safety by climbing out of the relegation zone following a 1-1 draw with Pep Guardiola’s side.

    Finish this sentence!

Mavropanos’ performance is the best by a West Ham defender since… ?

It was another stoic defensive display from the Irons, and the likes of Mads Hermansen impressed.

Still, special mention was paid to the imperious Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Above all others, Mavropanos stood out. The Greek was brilliant from a defensive standpoint, while it was his goal that earned West Ham the crucial point.

Hammers News subscribers have been purring about him ever since.

Mavropanos wins Man of the Match Award with Hammers News

Not long after the full-time whistle, the website asked its subscribers on TalkingPoints to vote for their Man of the Match.

    MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Unsurprisingly, Mavropanos amassed most of the vote.

He claimed 83.8% of it, while the aforementioned Hermansen won 13.99% too.

The Irons formed a brilliant unit to shut the likes of Erling Haaland out, with City’s goal little more than a fluke. Bernardo Silva, talented as he is, surely couldn’t catch a goalkeeper as good as Hermansen out from that angle again if he tried.

However, it is no shock that Mavropanos scooped up most of the award. A truly Herculean display.

Mavropanos was brilliant against Manchester City and will no doubt play a huge role in the final few games of the season.

What West Ham fans are saying about Mavropanos after Man City game

The former Arsenal defender has not always convinced since joining the club in 2023 but he has been in fine form of late.

Alongside Axel Disasi and Jean-Clair Todibo, the Hammers arguably have the strongest defensive unit in the relegation battle.

Following such a strong showing, our subscribers are full of praise for Mavropanos.

“Absolute man mountain yesterday, been improving steadily this season,” wrote one fan.

Another added: “He was immense. The 2 big boys with him were also fantastic!”

One fan wrote: “Genuinely can’t think of a player who has resurrected their West Ham career as much as him in recent times. Didn’t rate him at all last season but he’s been so good this season, and today showed that again!”

“He was magnificent our own Greek God,” said another.

Mavropanos deserves every word of the praise he’s getting.
