West Ham have clear reason to fear Brentford FA Cup exit

Liverpool, England, 29th September 2025. Nuno Espirito Santo manager of West Ham United reacts during the Everton vs West Ham United Premier League...
West Ham put their Premier League relegation battle on hold on Monday night.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side welcome Brentford to the London Stadium, as West Ham look to progress into the quarter-finals of this season’s FA Cup.

The Hammers are in fairly inconsistent form at the moment, having won once, drawn once and lost one from their last three Premier League games.

Brentford, however, boast that exact same record from their last three league games, with a 0-0 draw away at Bournemouth for Keith Andrews’ side last time out.

Neither one of these two teams have played against Premier League opposition yet in the FA Cup this year, in what looks set to be a great game of cup football between these London rivals.

What is West Ham’s record against Brentford?

Given how easily Brentford have taken to life as a Premier League club, it can be easy to forget just how new they are to English football’s top flight still.

Thomas Frank only led the Bees to the promised land in 2021, with 2025-26 being just their fifth full season at the level.

In that time, however, Brentford have never finished lower than 16th, and with Andrews’ men currently sitting seventh with nine games to play, they’re on for their highest ever finish in the pyramid in the modern history of the club.

As such, West Ham will be under no illusion’s that Monday’s game is going to be a very tough one for them, and the history books documenting this fixture aren’t in their favour either.

That’s because in the nine Premier League games these two sides have played against one another, it’s the Bees who have won seven of them, with West Ham winning just once with one draw too.

West Ham’s only top flight victory against Brentford came in a 4-2 win on 26 February 2024, where a Jarrod Bowen hat-trick and an Emerson stunner took the day for the Irons.

What is Brentford’s away record like this season?

It’s only a short cross-city journey for Brentford to the London Stadium on Monday night, but what are Andrews’ side like on their travels this term?

Well, when it comes to the FA Cup, they’ve had to go on the road and win in both the third and fourth round respectively, which they did, defeating Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 and Macclesfield 1-0 respectively.

However, when it comes to the Premier League, they’ve certainly been better on home soil this season, with only 19 of their 44 points coming away from home.

Eight losses, 1 draw and six wins from 15 away league games paints a picture of a side that West Ham should respect, but perhaps shouldn’t fear after all.
