Newcastle Transfer News: Chances Of Agreeing Marcos Senesi Deal Revealed

Newcastle United will have to beat off lots of competition if they want to sign Marcos Senesi in the summer.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who knows that Italian clubs will look to sign the 28-year-old.

Senesi’s contract at Bournemouth expires at the end of the season, with the centre-back having started all but one game for the Cherries this season.

Newcastle are looking to strengthen their squad in the summer, with Eddie Howe’s side on course for a mid-table Premier League finish.

Marcos Senesi to ‘command a lot of interest’ in summer window

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Spain could also be a possible destination for Senesi.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Newcastle need a player like Senesi to push for European football next season.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, I think they will face competition as well. Again, another Argentinian talent that I think could even make the squad again. So I think that there will be competition.

“I think a player of that quality, being able to move, will command a lot of interest. And I don’t think, as I say, I’ve mentioned, I know there are Italian clubs that have had a look as well. There’s a lot of Argentinians going to Spain, Italy as well right now.

“I do think that he’ll be sought after, it ain’t going to be that easy. But again, if they can keep hold of [Malick] Thiaw, and they can get him up from Bournemouth, then I think they’re starting to put together a proper back four again, which is what they’re going to need to push on next season at Newcastle.”

Newcastle set to lose star defender

Wyness revealed to Football Insider that Tino Livramento is expected to join Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

A deal could be struck between Newcastle and Man City for £70million, with the 23-year-old a top target for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Livramento’s season has been disrupted by injuries, which has limited the full-back to just 11 Premier League starts.
