Rangers News: Fans Fear Tuur Rommens Exit After Celtic Display

Rangers fans believe Tuur Rommens’ performances at left-back will make him the interest of many clubs in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who only joined Rangers in January from Belgian side Westerlo, was a star performer during a 2-2 draw with Glasgow rivals Celtic at Ibrox.

Danny Rohl’s side dominated the first half, and were well worthy of their 2-0 advantage courtesy of a Youssef Chermiti double.

However, the Gers suffered a blow to their Scottish Premiership title hopes by letting the lead slip in the second half, with Kieran Tierney and Reo Hatate salvaging a point for the visitors.

Tuur Rommens ‘best left back in the world’

Rommens has largely impressed during his time at Rangers so far, but the Glasgow derby was his biggest test yet during his short spell at the club.

The Belgian made three clearances and interceptions, won 60% of his ground duels, and 64% of his aerial duels across the 90 minutes.

Rangers fans were raving about his display, with one supporter saying the club needs to enjoy Rommens whilst they have him, fearing that clubs may be eyeing up a summer swoop.

One supporter called Rommens a “gem of a footballer,” whilst another posted that he is “different class” to his Rangers teammates.

    Jesse Lingard makes transfer decision

Rangers will not be signing free agent Jesse Lingard, with the 33-year-old set to join Brazilian club Corinthians.

Lingard has been linked with a move to Ibrox, with the club having made contact with his agent over agreeing a possible deal.

    West Ham

Rohl will want to continue his Rangers rebuild in the summer window, and Mikey Moore’s loan spell from Tottenham will expire at the end of the season.

Moore is beginning to flourish in the Rangers team, and there are also concerns around midfielder Nico Raskin’s future amid interest from Premier League clubs.

Whilst Champions League football could help Rohl in the transfer market, the prospect of winning the title was hit with the draw against Celtic, with Scottish clubs only getting one place in Europe’s premier competition next season.
