Liverpool fans mock West Ham supporters at Anfield with brutal chant

West Ham United supporters at Anfield were mocked by Liverpool fans during Saturday’s 5-2 defeat against Liverpool.

Indeed, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side made an unwelcome step towards relegation from the Premier League as West Ham lost 5-2 to Liverpool.

The worst in the Premier League 😡 Of all of the issues set to send us down, where does this one rank?!

The Irons are now two points from safety but, crucially, have played a game more than 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.

That fact was not lost on some of the Liverpool fans at Anfield.

As relayed by The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele, Reds fans were poking fun at West Ham’s perilous position in the Premier League table.

After Axel Disasi had put through his own net to mark Liverpool’s fifth goal of the game, sections of the home support chanted: “Going down, going down, going down.”

Steele added that the fifth goal saw at least some of the supporters in the away end make their exits, and for that they can hardly be blamed.

Clearly, West Ham weren’t a complete disaster against Liverpool, but by the time the fifth goal had gone in, the game was over and another game passed Nuno’s side by.

West Ham fans have been confident about Premier League survival but Saturday’s game was a major step back on that front.

As per Opta’s predictions, the Hammers now have a 73.71% chance of slipping into the Championship for the first time since 2012.

Wednesday’s game against Fulham will be a bigger indication as to where this team are right now. Though the Cottagers are clearly a good side, they are not on the level of Liverpool even during a difficult season for the Reds.

If West Ham do not get three points on Wednesday, the chances of survival become even more remote.
