Tam McManus amazed by Nicolas Raskin latest at Rangers as transfer abroad on cards

Nico Raskin warming up for Rangers
Nicolas Raskin is now in line for a new Rangers contract after recently coming under criticism.

Tam McManus is amazed to see the Belgium international’s situation turn around in form after the Gers’ results against Motherwell and Hearts in the William Hill Premiership.

The Ibrox hierarchy are now planning to hold talks with Raksin over a new deal and reward him with improved terms after arguably being one of the Light Blues’ best players since last season.

As things stand, the 24-year-old’s current contract expires in 2028, but he may have his eyes away from the Glaswegian outfit in the upcoming transfer windows after regaining his form under Danny Rohl.

Rangers must prepare for Nicolas Raskin transfer interest after 2026 World Cup

Raskin has established himself in the Belgian national team setup recently, putting in some impressive displays for the Red Devils.

    MORE RANGERS STORIES

The midfielder will surely be confident of being in Rudi Garcia’s plans for the 2026 World Cup and of playing for his country in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

If the Belgium international continues to perform well at the summer tournament, it wouldn’t be surprising to see top teams fighting for his signature in the summer, and the Gers will then have a decision to make over his future.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer on 20 February, McManus said, “It’s amazing what happens when you start to win games, and the fans get behind you again. I think there were a few murmurs about Raskin among Rangers supporters, maybe a month ago or six weeks ago. He wasn’t playing too well.”

The Scot added, “He scored a great goal against Motherwell and played really well against Hearts. All of a sudden, there are more positive rumblings about him. But I don’t think he’ll be there long-term. I think he has eyes on a move abroad. That’s just my opinion.”

Raskin has the opportunity to make a mark at Ibrox before a potential departure in the summer, with Rohl reigniting the Glaswegian outfit’s hopes to win the William Hill Premiership, with two points between them and Hearts.

Danny Rohl has another contract priority at Ibrox

John Souttar has already extended his stay at Rangers until May 2027, with new deals for Raskin and Liam Kelly now possibly on the horizon.

Another player the Gers should look to tie down is James Tavernier, who will be a free agent at the end of the season as things stand.

The captain has played a key role for the Light Blues once again this season, despite fans wanting to see his replacement for some time now.

With Max Aarons failing to live up to expectations and Dujon Sterling picking up another injury, Tavernier’s presence may be needed at Ibrox next season.
