Danilo clear on what he wants to happen next after Rangers loan exit

Danilo has reiterated that he hopes to leave Rangers permanently once his loan with NEC Nijmegen expires.

The 26-year-old sealed a loan move to the Dutch club on deadline day in a deal that runs until the end of the campaign.

NEC have the option to make that deal permanent in the summer, which is an outcome that would likely suit all three parties.

Danilo admitted he feared his Rangers exit would collapse earlier this month given the saga ran right until the final stages of the window.

But now that he is settled in at NEC, Danilo has opened up on what he hopes will happen next.

Danilo wants permanent move to NEC Nijmegen in summer

Danilo’s impact at Ibrox was limited, explaining why Danny Rohl was happy to sign off on his loan exit midway through the season.

The Brazilian has so far made a couple of appearances for NEC, totalling 52 minutes of action, and he is eager to do enough to seal a permanent move.

In an interview with Voetbal International, Danilo said: “We’ll see if that happens. It’ll take a while, and I’ve only just arrived.

“I first have to show what I can do and convince the club to exercise that [permanent] option. Hopefully, we have some exciting months ahead.”

Danilo has made it quite clear he feels his time at Ibrox is up, but it is now over to the forward to prove himself back in the Netherlands.

How has Danilo performed for NEC so far?

As mentioned, Danilo has not exactly had much of a chance to make an impact at NEC so far given he has played less than an hour.

Across his two appearances, coming in a 3-1 loss to FC Utrecht and 1-1 draw with Sparta Rotterdam, Danilo has registered four shots, but none of those have been on target.

That is hardly the way to go about earning yourself a permanent deal, though the Brazilian will no doubt have more chances to do so.

The bottom line is that Danilo wants a permanent exit and Rangers want him off their books for good. The question is whether NEC want the forward beyond this summer.

Time will tell on that front, with Rangers chiefs no doubt wishing him well in order to ramp up any interest from elsewhere.
