Michail Antonio is in talks with London club as first move post-West Ham nears

The forward signed for the club in 2015 and played a huge part in establishing the modern-day iteration of the Hammers.
Antonio left the club following the expiration of his contract last summer, but continued his rehabilitation with the club after a road traffic incident in December 2024.
The 35-year-old trained with Championship side Leicester at the back end of 2025 as a free agent, looking to make his first post-West Ham move.
Though it appears that Antonio could be staying in London, with one of Leicester’s Championship competitors reportedly holding talks with the Jamaican international.
Charlton Athletic hold talks with Michail Antonio
Scoring 83 times across 323 appearances for the West Ham, Antonio will always be held in high regard at the London Stadium, with his versatility, personality and physical attributes never keeping him too far away from the starting XI.
talkSPORT reports that the forward could be set for a return to the second tier with South London outfit Charlton.
The Addicks were promoted to the Championship via the League One play-offs last May, and currently sit seven points clear of the relegation zone.
With his move to Leicester falling through due to an injury, Antonio could be in line for a move across London as he reunites with the Championship – where he last played in the 2014-15 campaign, prompting his move from Nottingham Forest to West Ham.
Michail Antonio’s West Ham legacy
Throughout his time at West Ham, Antonio remained reliable when called upon, and as mentioned, was never too far from a place in the team no matter the manager.
The likes of Gianluca Scamacca, Sebastian Haller, Javier Hernandez and more all arrived to bolster West Ham’s options up top during Antonio’s 10 year stint at the club.

A common theme emerged, though, that they would all be displaced by Antonio at some point.
Italian forward Scamacca would be the most promising during his early days, before it became evident that Antonio brought more to David Moyes’ side with his specific style of play, resulting in the Hammers lifting the UEFA Conference League at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Antonio’s West Ham career would come to an end last summer, and as he enters what will be the final years of his career, Hammers fans will undoubtedly wish him well.
