Danny Rohl to block James Tavernier talks at Rangers in contract latest

Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew believes the German manager will let the right-back’s deal at the Gers run down.
As things stand, the 34-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for him at the Light Blues.
The Glaswegian outfit have relied on the Englishman for over a decade, but he could potentially be on his way out soon.
James Tavernier role at Rangers to diminish under Danny Rohl
Tavernier has started in the majority of games for the Gers this season, but that has arguably been due to the lack of personnel in his position.
Max Aarons has struggled to make a case for himself at Ibrox since moving on loan from Bournemouth last summer, and Dujon Sterling’s fitness issues have been persistent.
The veteran defender has also been often deployed at centre-back due to several injuries in the backline in recent months, but Rohl may not have him in his plans for long.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 12 February, Mulgrew said, “I don’t think Rohl will offer him a new contract. That’s my opinion. Just looking at purely the evidence when he plays and when he doesn’t, I don’t think he would want to waste the budget or whatever he’s got in the summer on Tavernier.”
Tavernier is the Glaswegian outfit’s leading goalscorer this season, with 13 goals in all competitions, highlighting his continued importance in G51.
Despite the right-back’s impressive attacking numbers, his defensive contributions have left fans frustrated in recent seasons, which is why supporters want to see a quality replacement for their captain soon.
Danny Rohl may have surprise James Tavernier successor at Ibrox
Tavernier is due a testimonial at the Gers, and it will undoubtedly be tough for them to find someone capable of matching his stature.
Aarons and Sterling clearly aren’t reliable enough to play for Rangers, but they may already have a right-back on their books.

Findlay Curtis played in defence for Kilmarnock as Neil McCann’s team beat St Mirren 4-3 at home in the William Hill Premiership on 11 February.
The Scottish youngster, who joined Killie on loan for the rest of the season in the winter transfer window, surprisingly had an immense contribution in the backline, as seen in the Sofascore graphic above, and could potentially be the right-back that the Glaswegian outfit have been looking for.
