West Ham fail to read the room after Max Kilman announcement on social media
Max Kilman has not had the best of seasons at West Ham under Nuno Espirito Santo.
West Ham fans might argue that since his £40million move from Wolves, Kilman has seldom justified the price tag.
While he has been a regular starter, it has often been because there were no better options available, rather than due to his performances on the field.
Why do you think it has gone so wrong for Max Kilman? And who is West Ham’s worst-ever signing?

“I used to really like him but he probably didn’t have that responsibility at Wolves. When you are the leading main centre-half, you’ve got to dominate that situation.
“He’s too passive.”
– Jamie Carragher after watching Kilman in the 2-0 defeat by Brentford
“We used to speak about not switching off the engine because he looks for a rest [on the pitch]. I’ve been watching him recently, and I’m sure Nuno will be drilling into him; ‘Don’t rely on your pace and physicality. Make sure you’re always switched on’.”
– Former Wolves boss Gary O’Neil
“There are many reasons behind [dropping Kilman for the defeat by Liverpool].
“The schedule, Dino [Mavropanos] has had an injury, has recovered and is working well, having [to] schedule players ahead of a quick turnaround.
“We are going to need all the players in the squad. Just a decision. I think Dino competed well.”
– Nuno on dropping Kilman
West Ham share post of Max Kilman’s stats
After recent performances and results, despite an extra-time victory against QPR in the FA Cup, fans have not been pleased with what has been happening on or off the pitch.
The Hammers have the worst defensive record in the Premier League, and it comes as no surprise that the supporters are pointing fingers at the defenders.
The Wolves fans WARNED us about Max Kilman… 🐺
Who is the worst pound-for-pound signing in West Ham’s history? He’s surely up there…

Kilman let his West Ham teammates down in the game against Brighton, and even apart from that has had a number of dismal performances.
Despite this, the club’s social media team thought that it would be a good idea to share statistics of his performance against QPR.
While his numbers do seem impressive in isolation, it is not like he had the best of games for the Irons on Sunday.

Will Kilman be at West Ham beyond the end of the season?
The futures of a lot of West Ham players depend on whether or not they will be in the top flight next season.
Relegation would see a reduction in the salaries of a number of players, and that may be enough for them to explore their options.
They may also not feel that the Hammers are capable of bouncing right back up, as there will be plenty of upheaval in the squad, and a good transfer window will be needed in the summer.
Kilman would certainly be one on the chopping block if West Ham stay up, as his performances have been underwhelming.
At 28, many would argue that he is in the prime of his career, and a newly-promoted side from the Championship may well be willing to take a punt on him.
However, if they are to get relegated, he would be one of the better defenders in the second tier and unless the club are signing an upgrade on him, he will be expected to stay.
