Tottenham reportedly advance in talks to sign Paqueta with £26m bid made as West Ham make final decision

Lucas Paqueta could be set to leave West Ham United to join Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.

Both West Ham and Tottenham are desperate to strengthen their squads in the January transfer window this month.

And it seems like the biggest deal of the month could be Paqueta leaving the Hammers to join Spurs.

Paqueta has been heavily linked with Tottenham this month, with an exit from the London Stadium looking increasingly more likely for the Brazilian.

Imagine you are Nuno – What is the FIRST thing you are doing to save your job?

The former Lyon midfielder has been in really poor form for the Hammers in general over the past couple of years.

His well documented off-field problems have unquestionably affected his ability to perform at his very best.

And now his time with West Ham could be coming to a close.

Paqueta’s future is very much up in the air right now.

It’s unclear as to whether he will even see out the remainder of the season with West Ham.

However, it’s fair to argue that the Hammers will be better served by letting him go. He’s hardly the type of player you need on your team during a relegation battle, is he?

If Paqueta does join Tottenham in January, Nuno Espirito Santo will have plenty of funds available in the winter window.

But is there a real chance of a deal happening?

According to a report from Torcida Flamengo, Tottenham are advancing in talks to sign Lucas Paqueta.

It has also been claimed that the chance to remain in London and the Premier League could well appeal to Paqueta and his representatives.

Mohammed Kudus was sold to Tottenham in the summer, and that proved that the owners are not against allowing players to join their fiercest rivals in the Premier League.

Out of 10, how CONFIDENT are you that Nuno can still save West Ham?

However, could that really happen again just six months later?

Tottenham are clearly very interested in signing Lucas Paqueta from West Ham.

And Torcida Flamengo claim that the 28-year-old swapping east London for north London in January is a ‘real possibility’.

That’s because the West Ham owners are keen for a complete squad restructure, and the money from a potential Paqueta sale this month would really help out with that.

Quite where Paqueta will end up remains to be seen. However, it’s pretty clear to see that the Brazil international’s time with the Hammers is coming to an end.
