West Ham Eye Move for ‘Outstanding’ Tottenham Star After Limited Role Last Season

West Ham want to sign ‘outstanding’ Tottenham star who made 10 appearances last season

Thomas Frank and Nuno Espirito Santo happy
West Ham have shown an interest in signing one of Tottenham’s fringe players in January.

Given the immediate risk of relegation staring West Ham in the face, they still have a lot of business that is needed this month.

The arrivals of Taty Castellanos and Pablo have already been announced to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s forward line, though the Hammers are also looking to improve their options at the back.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Hammers are keeping an eye on one Tottenham star, who has been a fringe player under Thomas Frank.

West Ham eye Alphonse Areola replacement

West Ham looked set to sign Bento from Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nassr, though the Brazilian has opted for a move to Genoa instead.

That has left the Irons in search of a new goalkeeper, with Romano reporting via his YouTube that Tottenham’s Antonin Kinsky has emerged as a target.

The Czech goalkeeper played 10 times for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou, but has been afforded just two starts under Frank in the current campaign.

At 22 years old, Kinsky may want to secure a move elsewhere to get regular gametime, and given the struggles of Alphonse Areola at times, he may get that at West Ham.

Via FotMob, Areola’s 47 per cent pass accuracy is the worst in the Premier League this season, and when compared to Kinsky’s 72.6 per cent last season, it’s clear why the Hammers may go down that route.

Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of Antonin Kinsky

Guglielmo Vicario has been Tottenham’s number one for the last few seasons, though Kindsky has at times had to step in at Spurs.

The Czech goalkeeper is primarily used in cup competitions in North London, but he was afforded six Premier League starts last season when his Italian counterpart got injured.

While his appearances were few and far between, he still caught the eye of Ange Postecoglou, who hailed the quality that Kisnky has.

“I’ve been really happy with [Kinsky],” Postecoglou said last year. “Even at Villa, obviously, you know he made the mistake, but his reaction to that was I thought outstanding for a 21-year-old in that environment to bounce back from a mistake like that.

“We’ve thrown him in and given him some enormous tasks with very little sort of preparation, and I just think he’s going to be an outstanding goalkeeper.”
