George Earthy reveals what he just couldn’t stop thinking about as West Ham exit confirmed

On Friday, it was confirmed that George Earthy had left West Ham United to return to Bristol City on loan.

It is the second time the 21-year-old has left West Ham for Ashton Gate, with the midfielder having spent last season there too.

Earthy won Bristol City’s Young Player of the Year Award after a decent campaign for the Robins in which he scored three goals while registering one assist in 40 appearances.

Out of 10, how CONFIDENT are you that Nuno can still save West Ham?

Beating QPR in the FA Cup would be a start…

I’d give it a 2/10 for his chance of saving us from the dreaded drop. If he can’t get his game management right then we’re done.

After making just one appearance in the Premier League this season, the Hammers academy star has spoken about just how excited he is to get going again.

George Earthy can’t wait to hear his Bristol City chant again

Upon signing a loan deal for the rest of the season, Earthy spoke to Bristol City’s official website.

He revealed that he simply cannot wait to hear the chant that the club’s fans created for him again, having been thinking about it since he initially left the Championship club.

“The place feels like home and so I am really happy to be back,” he said.

“I am really looking forward to seeing the fans again. I have always been thinking about [my chant] since I left.

“They were so good to me, it is special to be back, and I cannot wait to get back in front of them again.”

What is your RESPONSE to those Ethan Pinnock links?

    Underwhelming? Or Craig Dawson 2.0?

Bristol City delighted to land “interesting” George Earthy deal

At least one of the chants that Bristol City fans had for Earthy was: “I don’t care about [Tommy] Conway, he don’t care about me, all I care about is George Earthy”.

Clearly, there’s quite the connection there already.

Earthy has previously been compared to David Silva and looks exactly the type of talent who the club can build around if they are indeed relegated.

In an ideal world, he would get the minutes he needs to further develop at West Ham, but turning to a relatively inexperienced player in a relegation battle does have its risks.

As such, it’s perhaps a good thing he can bank first-team football at a team chasing the play-off spots in the Championship.

Robins boss Gerhard Struber didn’t work with Earthy last season as he was only appointed as Liam Manning’s replacement in June.

Still, during that interview with the Bristol City official website, Struber expressed his excitement about working with Earthy, hailing him as an “interesting” player.

“He is a very interesting player and did very well here last year,” he said.

“We are very happy to add a player of his quality to the squad.”
