Everton date set for Nathan Patterson exit as most likely destination named

Nathan Patterson could be the one to suffer from Everton’s transfer business in the January window.

The Scotland international has made just three Premier League appearances under David Moyes this season.

With Seamus Coleman out injured, Jake O’Brien has been utilised at right-back, highlighting just how far down the pecking order Patterson is.

As the Toffees prepare for a January incoming, it could signal the end of the 24-year-old’s time on Merseyside.

Nathan Patterson lined up for La Liga move

Patterson has been linked with a move away from Everton over the last few months, with it becoming clear that he has no future at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

    MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Moyes is hoping to bring in a new starting right-back in January, which would leave the Scot surplus to requirements.

According to Sky Sports News, the Toffees are open to letting Patterson leave on loan until the end of the season, in order to give him the best chance of going to the World Cup with Scotland.

However, the 24-year-old will only be able to depart when the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has concluded, as Moyes is currently low on options, so his exit date will not be until later this month.

La Liga outfit Sevilla were interested in Patterson over the summer, and are still monitoring his situation.

Italian sides Lazio and Bologna are also tracking the right-back, who sees his current Everton contract expire at the end of the 2026-27 campaign.

Who could Everton sign at right-back?

Everton are willing to let Patterson depart because they are working on bringing in a starting right-back in January.

It has been a problem area in Moyes’ squad for some time, and O’Brien’s recent poor performances have highlighted the need for a new signing.

Everton have been linked with Genk right-back Zakaria El Ouahdi, but will have to fight off competition from the likes of Crystal Palace for the Moroccan international.

The 24-year-old would likely cost around £12million, although Palace are reportedly progressing in talks to bring him to Selhurst Park.

If the Merseyside outfit are serious about signing El Ouahdi, then they will have to move quickly to beat their Premier League rivals to a deal.
