Everton were predicted to be active in the market this winter, but over a week into the January window, and Moyes is yet to welcome any new faces to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Fresh blood is evidently needed too, as showcased after Everton drew 1-1 with Wolves on Wednesday night.

Everton are known to be targeting a new striker this month, with Roma’s Artem Dovbyk heavily linked with the Toffees.

However, there are other options on the table for Everton, and it’s one of those that Dan Friedkin and the TFG group have learnt how much they’ll need to pay to sign him.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has been linked with a move to Everton this winter, with Wolves looking doomed to Championship football for 2026-27: something which the Norwegian striker will want no part of.

That doesn’t mean he’ll be leaving Molineux on the cheap, though, and as per a report from the Daily Mail, Wolves would be open to selling the big centre-forward for around £40million.

Tyler Dibling is currently the most expensive player Everton have signed since TFG took over in December 2024, with that deal costing the Toffees £35m in up-front cash, with an additional £5m in add-ons.

But, the Toffees will face stiff competition for his signature, with Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Aston Villa and Spurs all credited with an interest in securing his services as well.

Why £40m fee for Strand Larsen may not be as steep as it sounds

For a striker who has scored just one Premier League goal so far this season, £40m sounds an awful lot of money.

But, context is important as to why that price-tag would still be a very attractive one for Everton.

Firstly, he’s playing in a Wolves team that have scored just 15 goals all season, and are averaging just 0.7 goals scored per game – the lowest in the Premier League.

• Strand Larsen also registered four assists for Wolves last season

He was able to score 14 for Wolves last season, though, and it’s no coincidence that this was a team that included service being provided from the likes of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait Nouri, both of whom got seven and six assists respectively.

Finally, it was back in this season’s summer transfer window that Newcastle saw offers of £55m rejected for Larsen, who has since signed a new five-year contract with the Old Gold.

For all that, however, fans would understandably much prefer to see a massive fee such as this splashed out on a more expensive – and not least proven – striker.
