Everton are expected to make a move for Saint-Etienne forward Zuriko Davitashvili in the winter transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been a key player for Les Verts in recent seasons and is now trying to help them win promotion from Ligue 2.

Davitashvili is wanted at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the French club are keen to retain his services for now as they look to get back into Ligue 1 after relegation last season.

Jose Mourinho has requested the signing of Davitashvili at Benfica, according to Geo Team.

    MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The football reporter, followed by the likes of The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai and Fabrizio Romano on X, has revealed that Benfica are also in the race for the Georgian winger, but have seen their initial bid of around £6.9million rejected.

It’s been claimed that the Toffees haven’t made an official offer yet, but will try to sign Davitashvili in January.

Mourinho could potentially be set for a heartbreak, with the Blues also gunning for the forward’s signature.

While Moyes and the Hill Dickinson Stadium hierarchy agree that the Merseyside outfit won’t spend much on permanent transfers and focus on getting a few loan deals done in the coming weeks, the Georgian international’s price tag may be tempting for them.

David Moyes should focus on two transfers before Zuriko Davitashvili deal

Jake O’Brien was all over the place against Brentford, and his inability to contribute in the final third from right-back arguably didn’t help the Toffees in the 4-2 loss.

Vitalii Mykolenko didn’t have the best of games either at home on 4 January, highlighting the immediate signings probably needed to fix short-term issues at Everton.
