It wasn’t the prettiest of goals, with a scramble in the six-yard box seeing Wissa denied initially before he was able to poke the ball past the Burnley defenders on the line.

They all count, though, and Wissa enjoyed an ‘amazing’ night in front of the travelling Newcastle fans. His performance also led to high praise from Eddie Howe, but there is a catch.

What Eddie Howe said about Yoane Wissa

Discussing Yoane Wissa’s impact after the game, the Newcastle United manager had plenty to say about his star striker.

Howe said: “That was the thinking behind signing the two players, they are very different [Wissa and Woltemade]. Yoane is more the traditional number nine. He wants to run in behind, he has a very good sense of scoring goals, he’s in the right place at the right time and that was highlighted by his goal.”

Indeed, it’s clear Wissa and Nick Woltemade offer very different things for Newcastle. In many ways, Wissa is probably the one who can cope on his own up front a little better.

However, this talk of how Wissa likes to play raises the question once more as to why the pair haven’t been partnered up top together yet.

If Eddie Howe is going to play Wissa and Woltemade together in a 4-2-3-1, which midfielder are you dropping?

Let’s pretend all six of them are fit so not everyone says Jacob Ramsey…

Wissa and Woltemade partnership has to happen soon

Woltemade had a poor game against Man United last week, largely because he was totally isolated once again.

The problem is, we all know that Wissa and Woltemade playing together would be a success. Maybe it would take time, but the two players complement each other so well that it simply has to work.

The fans have been asking for this partnership for so long, and yet Howe will not listen. Surely that experiment will be given a chance in January, where Newcastle have a slightly easier run of fixtures?
