Lewis Travis and Max Johnston are unlikely to feature for Derby County at Leicester City on Monday, as John Eustace issued a cautious double injury update. Derby aim to atone for their 3-1 defeat earlier this month.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, captain Travis and Johnston have resumed training after calf and hamstring problems. Both missed the 1-1 draw at Birmingham City, though Travis travelled to St Andrew’s to support the group.

Eustace considers Travis a doubt for the King Power after 11 weeks out and only two sessions, despite the midfielder pushing to play against his former club. He also praised Liam Thompson and Bobby Clark for their midfield displays against the Blues, with Clark, naturally a number 10, operating deeper alongside Thompson.

Dion Sanderson returns after missing the Birmingham game due to loan rules with his parent club. Joe Ward is suspended following two yellow cards, and with Johnston likely out, the right-back slot is up for decision.

Derby will look to trouble Marti Cifuentes’ side after Leicester lost at home to Watford, a result that has increased pressure on the Spaniard, with Leicester in mid-table. Despite ongoing uncertainty and the possibility of a points deduction over spending breaches linked to their promotion two years ago, Leicester retain quality. Eustace said Derby will go with a plan and graft to try to get a result.
