West Ham out to do something they’ve not done in 17 years vs Fulham, Nuno desperately needs it

West Ham are heading into Christmas low on confidence under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno is struggling to get the best out of his West Ham players as the Hammers sit 18th in the Premier League table, five points adrift of safety.

West Ham are embroiled in an intense relegation battle, and morale among fans is low as the reality of their situation hits home.

The Hammers face 13th-placed Fulham in their next Premier League match, and although supporters may not be optimistic, West Ham boast an impressive home record against the Cottagers.

West Ham have excellent recent home record vs Fulham

The London Stadium has been the source of many problems during David Sullivan’s reign, although they have certainly not felt them when facing up against Marco Silva’s side.

    MORE WEST HAM STORIES

West Ham have lost just one of their last 14 Premier League home games against Fulham, down 2-0 in April 2024 under David Moyes.

West Ham beat Fulham 3-2 in this fixture last season, but the Cottagers have not lost multiple league games against West Ham in the same calendar year since 2008 (three).

The Irons will therefore be looking to achieve a 17-year first this weekend in order to get their season back on track.

West Ham’s last 14 home matches vs Fulham:

    • Wins: 9
    • Draws: 4
    • Losses: 1

That win in January 2025 was Graham Potter’s first in charge, and nearly a year on from that match, a lot has changed in E20.

Nuno has only won two out of his 12 matches so far, and he currently has the worst points-per-game of any manager in the club’s Premier League history.

With matches against bottom-half sides coming up in each of their next four games, a poor run of results could put Nuno under immense pressure.

When will Nuno Espirito Santo face pressure to be sacked?

The Hammers have recorded bottom-half finishes in each of the last two seasons, and their decline was on the cards under Potter.

Nuno has inherited a terrible situation and is also yet to bring any of his players through the door.

However, despite an improvement in performances, the Portuguese manager has failed to oversee a change in their results.

He’ll undoubtedly be given the January transfer window to have his say on what is needed in the team, although if wins don’t come in these next four matches, his future will come under serious threat.
