Jose Mourinho has already sent a clear message about striker Everton want in January

Everton are now eyeing a striker ahead of January who Jose Mourinho has shared a very clear message about in the past.

The search is on at Everton to whittle down a list of potential striker signings ahead of what could be an interesting January window.

David Moyes has only seen one goal returned between both Beto and Thierno Barry this season, with mounting pressure on the likes of Iliman Ndiaye to find the back of the net.

Everton News has reported recently that Everton are prioritising a striker signing when the market opens at the start of the New Year.

Moyes was keen to sign another striker over the summer, but finances were placed elsewhere to strengthen the entire squad.

There is now one striker on the radar who has played under Mourinho in the past, and he shared a very clear message on the player in question.

What Jose Mourinho said about Everton target Troy Parrott

Sources confirmed to Everton News that, on Thursday, Everton had scouts watching Troy Parrott play for the Republic of Ireland against Portugal.

What a game for them to be in attendance for as the former Tottenham Hotspur youngster bagged himself a brace in a stunning win.

It was during his time in north London where Mourinho was able to work alongside the promising Ireland international.

“I was so happy with the way he performed and I’m not speaking about the goal that he scored,” Mourinho said back in 2020 after an U23 game for Spurs.

“I told him before the game, every time you play with the kids of your age, you have to show your colleagues why you are the privileged one. Why you are training in the first-team every day and some of them are not – they are still in the group age, because it was something that he was not doing.

“Every time he was playing with the kids, he was playing with the mentality of ‘I shouldn’t be here’ or ‘I am too good to be here’ or ‘It’s not here that I want to play’ and this is an educational process that comes.”

Everton have also scouted young Irishman Michael Noonan, who is playing at the U17’s World Cup over in Qatar.

However, Parrott will be viewed as a player for the present as he has seemingly taken on board the words of wisdom from Mourinho all those years ago.

Parrott has proven himself the real deal in the Eredivisie

Playing his football permanently in the Netherlands, after a previous loan stint, Parrott has found his feet in the men’s game.

Everton News has been told by sources that the Blues have been watching the 23-year-old all season long.

It has certainly been an excellent start to the season for the Irishman, who has netted almost a goal per game.
