West Ham United stand at an interesting point as another transfer story begins to take shape in London. The club had a busy summer filled with bold moves and fresh arrivals. They are showing interest in Adama Traoré and are considering giving Real Madrid’s young forward Endrick a new start at the London Stadium. Now, they have to face a possible defensive change involving one of their key players.

Journalist Wayne Veysey reported that Crystal Palace have set their sights on Max Kilman ahead of the January window. The report stated that Palace are preparing for Marc Guehi’s possible exit. He almost joined Liverpool on deadline day before the move collapsed at the last moment. The uncertainty around Guehi’s future pushed Palace to look for replacements early. They have already placed Kilman high on their shortlist.

The 28-year-old centre-back joined West Ham United from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £40 million in July 2024. He quickly earned a place as a reliable starter under Julen Lopetegui, and his contract runs until 2031, showing how much West Ham value him.

Yet the transfer market changes fast, and few players stay completely out of reach when big clubs come knocking. Palace see Kilman’s calmness, aerial strength, and confidence with the ball as qualities that could strengthen their defence if Guehi leaves. For now, the club continues to study their options as the January window approaches. They keep a close watch on both Kilman and Guehi.

Should West Ham United Consider Letting Kilman Leave?

Max Kilman brings value to West Ham United that goes beyond statistics. His numbers, however, highlight his consistency. He played 38 matches and spent 3,349 minutes on the pitch during the 2024–25 season. The English centre-back led the team in touches, passes, clearances, and blocks. He completed 87 per cent of his passes. He made 179 clearances and blocked 34 shots. These numbers show how reliably Kilman handles pressure.

Manager Nuno Espírito Santo trusts Kilman to defend firmly and start attacks from the back. That approach gives the team rhythm and balance. Still, not every fan feels fully convinced. Some believe his £40 million fee does not reflect his performances so far.

Palace could tempt West Ham with a substantial offer, but the Hammers would find it a challenge to replace a player with his experience and composure. If a strong bid allows West Ham to strengthen other areas, the club might decide to sell him. For now, Kilman holds a vital role in West Ham’s defence. His future, however, could soon test how the club balances stability with smart business decisions.
