Kevin Durant Headlines Major NBA Announcement on Thursday
Kevin Durant’s 17th NBA season is over after the Phoenix Suns failed to make the 2024-25 playoffs.
While Durant isn’t on the court for the postseason, he’s still making headlines around the NBA world.
On Thursday, Durant was named to the Professional Basketball Writers Association’s All-Interview First Team, recognizing players who are “consistently thoughtful, insightful and engaging with the media.”
Durant and his former Golden State Warriors teammate Stephen Curry were the top finishers in voting for the honor.
Durant is featured on the first team alongside Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Donovan Mitchell and Draymond Green. The second team includes Mike Conley Jr., Tyrese Haliburton, Bam Adebayo, Josh Hart and Damian Lillard.
“Curry, of the Golden State Warriors, and Durant, of the Phoenix Suns, were the top finishers in a vote of PBWA members and are joined on the 2024-25 All-Interview first team by Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Draymond Green of the Warriors,” the PBWA wrote in its announcement.
Durant notched his 15th NBA All-Star selection in 2024-25. Through 62 game appearances, the 36-year-old forward averaged 26.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game — shooting 52.7% from the field and 43.0% from behind the 3-point arc.
Durant joined the Suns in a blockbuster trade during the 2022-23 NBA season. After missing the playoffs, there’s been some swirling rumors regarding another potential trade involving Durant this offseason.

Suns general manager Brian Gregory was asked about the futures of Durant and Bradley Beal during his media availability on Tuesday.
“I have a very, very good relationship with both those guys,” Gregory said. “Kevin gave me a nice hug in the weight room the other night. … I had a great dinner with Brad Beal last Thursday, I think it was, and we talked a little bit about summer plans and different things like that.”
