The 26-year-old, who recently signed a 14-year, $500 million extension, began the season on a lengthy home run drought which he was finally able to snap out of earlier this week. Through 20 games, he’s now hitting .280 with 10 RBIs, and, though it didn’t result in a hit, he achieved a new feat in yesterday’s game versus the Seattle Mariners.

During yesterday’s game, Guerrero was up at the dish and hit a hard groundout to Mariners first baseman and former Blue Jay Rowdy Tellez. Shortly after, Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith reported that it was the hardest hit ball of Guerrero’s seven-year MLB career at a blistering speed of 120.4 mph.

Guerrero wound up finishing the game 0-3 with a walk, though his lack of production at the plate wasn’t costly as the Blue Jays were able to pick up a 3-1 win.

Despite some serious doubts surrounding the Jays entering the 2025 season, they’ve gotten off to a solid 12-8 start, second in the AL-East to only the New York Yankees’ 13-7 record. Plenty of that is due to the red-hot start from George Springer, who is hitting a robust .385 through the 18 games he’s played.

The Blue Jays are also getting some quality pitching from their starting rotation, especially Chris Bassitt, who owns a 0.77 ERA through four starts.

The Jays are back in action against the Mariners in what will be the second of a three-game series.
