Luka Dončić leads way among top-selling NBA jerseys in 2024-25 season

The NBA and National Basketball Players Association today jointly announced that the Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Dončić and the Lakers franchise secured the top spots on the NBA’s Most Popular Jersey and Team Merchandise lists.

Results are based on NBAStore.com sales for the 2024-25 regular season.

Dončić, who is from Slovenia, is the first international player to top the most popular jerseys list and the first player other than Stephen Curry or LeBron James to top the list since the 2012-13 regular season (New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony). Since the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 6, jersey sales on NBAStore.com are up 21% compared to the same period last year, primarily driven by Dončić’s trade to the Lakers.

The NBA also announced the most-viewed plays across NBA social and digital platforms for the 2024-25 regular season, led by two acrobatic layups by the Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant in a game against the Brooklyn Nets on Nov. 4 (286M views).  No. 2 on the list was the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry executing a behind-the-back crossover and finish vs. the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 28, which generated 136M views.

The Lakers’ James (3.23B views), Curry (2.56B views) and the Lakers’ Dončić (1.82B views) topped the list of the most-viewed players on NBA social and digital platforms during the regular season.  The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tripled his total view count from last season with 1.06 billion views.

Four of the top 15 players on the list are international players, led by San Antonio Spurs star  Victor Wembanyama of France, who has the sixth most popular jersey. That group also includes Dener Nuggets center Nikola Jokić (10th) and Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo (11th).

Overall, the top 5 players in jersey sales are:

    1. Luka Dončić, Los Angeles Lakers
    2. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
    3. LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers
    4. Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics
    5. Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks

In terms of team merchandise sales, the Lakers lead the way (the Celtics led at the season’s midpoint, too). The Celtics, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls are also in the top five in team merchandise sales.
