The Phoenix Suns opting to reportedly listen to offers on Kevin Durant before this past NBA trade deadline was a surprise to many. However, when Shams Charania confirmed as much, people knew there was some real fire to this smoke. The NBA insider even suggested that the two sides could work together to get a deal done in the offseason.

In the midst of a disappointing 35-37 season and another failed attempt at a superteam involving Durant, perhaps the Suns believe it is the best course of action to cut their losses and pursue a rebuild or retool in the desert. If that is the path they choose, Phoenix should not be short on potential suitors for the services of the two-time NBA champion.

Bleacher Report suggested one of those teams that could be Durant’s next landing spot is the Miami Heat. After needing to move on from Jimmy Butler this season, the Heat have been sent into a downward spiral ever since. They are clearly in need of a boost to the roster this offseason.

The following trade was suggested to get Durant to South Beach.

Miami Heat receive: Kevin Durant.

Phoenix Suns receive: Kel’el Ware, Terry Rozier, Duncan Robinson, 2025 first-round pick (top-10 protected via Golden State Warriors), and a 2031 first-round pick (unprotected).

The trade is not difficult to explain for Miami’s side. They receive Durant in exchange for a couple of first-round picks and a promising young prospect in Ware.

For the Suns, it is a touch more confusing as to why they would pull the trigger on this potential deal. Even at an older age, Durant is still a premier talent in the NBA. This package is very light on compensation for the level of superstar that is still possessed by the Slim Reaper.
