Details Leak on Raiders’ Final Trade Offer for Matthew Stafford
It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders wanted to trade for Matthew Stafford. Tom Brady reportedly even got involved in contract talks.
While the Raiders were willing to pay Stafford more than the Los Angeles Rams were, they weren’t going to offer too much in a trade. It’s not entirely clear what Las Vegas was going to offer the Rams in a trade.
Things may not have even gotten that far considering Stafford decided to stay in Los Angeles. However, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer was able to offer up some insight. The Raiders weren’t ever going to send the Rams the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“The Giants have been in on Stafford for a while, engaging right after the season, with word out there that he could become available,” Breer wrote. “In the few trade discussions there, the feeling was a potential deal would’ve been centered around the 34th pick. The third pick was never in the equation for the Giants, and my sense is the Raiders never considered moving the sixth pick in a trade for Stafford, either.”
It always seemed farfetched that Stafford would get the Rams a top-10 draft pick. He’s 37 and requires a major financial commitment.
