Right before the NBA trade deadline, there was a flurry of rumors saying Kevin Durant could be moved back to the Golden State Warriors.

Then came word that Durant vetoed the idea, and the Warriors instead made a move to acquire Jimmy Butler.

There was much speculation about why Durant rejected a Warriors move, and now he is speaking about it.

While talking with ESPN, he opened up about those rumors.

“People talk crazy about me all the time. That’s not the reason why I didn’t want to come back. I just didn’t want to get traded midway through the season. It was nothing against my time with the Warriors, or I heard because I didn’t like Draymond. At the end of the day, I just didn’t want to move and I wanted to see it through with my team in Phoenix and see what we can do the rest of the season. I’m glad I’m still there,” Durant said, per Courtside Buzz.

As Durant mentioned, some people said he didn’t want to return to Golden State because he wasn’t happy with his time there and didn’t like playing with Draymond Green.

That isn’t the case at all, according to Durant.

Instead, he just didn’t want to leave the Phoenix Suns in the middle of the season and wanted to see what they could do for the rest of the year.

This means that there is no bad blood between him and Golden State, and it also means he could pack his bags in the summer.

If the Suns don’t have a very successful second half of 2024-25, Durant might be open to moving.

He may not head to the Warriors, especially since they received Butler, but Durant could be staking out with a new team by the time next season begins.

This statement from Durant clears stuff up, but also opens the door for the next round of speculation.
