Raiders quarterback 2025: Who could it be?

There are several options for Las Vegas

is the site manager of Silver and Black Pride. He has covered the NFL since 1996 and he has covered the Raiders since 2008.

The Las Vegas Raiders will be adding, at least, one quarterback this offseason as the new regime tries to solve the issue at the most important position on the field. Here is a look at some of the candidates the franchise could consider.

    Free agency

Sam Darnold, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Marcus Mariota, Daniel Jones.

It’s extremely possible the Raiders make a fast play in free agency at the position Still, the Minnesota Vikings could place the franchise tag on him. There is mixed reports whether new Las Vegas coach Pete Carroll will want to reunite with Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson. Rodgers is 41 and has been with Raiders’ assistant coach Joe Philbin in Green Bay, Mariota, who new Raiders’ offensive coordinator Chip Kelly coached 13 years ago at Oregon, is more of a backup option. Darnold has the best potential, but he may be pricey and his success in 2024 could have been a fluke

    Trade:

    Matthew Stafford.

There is speculation the Los Angeles Rams could trade Stafford, who just turned 37. Carroll would be interested in his former NFC West foe as he seeks a fast turnaround in Las Vegas. Stafford would be a short-term solution and he may be pricey in terms of both trade compensation and contract.

    The draft:

Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, Will Howard, Dillon Gabriel, Jaxon Dart.

The Raiders will surely draft a quarterback. The round, of course, will depend on what they do in terms of acquiring a veteran. Best bets may be Sanders, if he falls to No. 6, an early-mid round selection of Howard, who won a national championship with Kelly at Ohio State.

    :

    Aidan O’Connell.

Gardner Minshew will likely be released. O’Connell may not be near the top of the new regime’s plans, but he’s a cheap option to bring to training camp to see what he can do in Kelly’s system as a backup.

    Conclusion:

Perhaps other options will emerge. This isn’t a great year to need a quarterback, but the Raiders have been in this same boat for the past two offseasons. Maybe they will strike gold this team or we could be examining the quarterback options in 2026 as well.
