Chicago Bears fans pull out all measures in pleading for Matt Eberflus to be fired

Chicago Bears v Arizona Cardinals / ChristianFollowing the Chicago Bears’ 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots, Matt Eberflus had another opportunity to control the message ahead of what was inevitably going to be a tumultuous week for the Bears’ organization.

Eberflus’ Monday began with an embarrassing interview on ESPN 1000 when he was faced with questions about the team facing a crisis. Instead of facing music and answering the questions head on, Eberflus appeared to have “connection” issues that led to the interview abruptly ending.

Following a forgettable moment on ESPN 1000, Eberflus fumbled over his own words while addressing reporters at Halas Hall on Monday. Despite teasing that there would be changes to the Bears’ offensive coaching staff, Eberflus wasn’t prepared to communicate what those changes would be.

The past three weeks have proven that the Bears can not control their own narrative. Even in times when the team is struggling, strong messaging on Monday allows for the news cycle to advance instead of many outside of Halas Hall openly speculating on the dysfunction that is going on within the organization.

It’s been an embarrassing three weeks for the Bears’ organization, which revamped its media relations department over the offseason. Once again, the Bears have become a national laughing stock. Even fans in attendance at WWE’s Monday Night Raw had to make sure their voices were heard.

Losing has defined Eberflus’ tenure as the Bears’ head coach. Between losing on the field and losing the benefit of the doubt during press conferences, Eberflus has proven to be an overpromoted defensive coordinator.

Until the Bears make that correction, the organization will continue to be looked down upon. If that correction is not made, then Ryan Poles will be the next one to have fans openly plead for him to be fired.
