    Warriors’ Steph Curry needed help getting to locker room after ankle sprain

    As most of the Bay Area sports scene was focused on the 49ers facing the Cowboys, the Golden State Warriors had the worst possible thing happen during their home opener: a injury.

    Curry tweaked his left ankle during the second half of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, eventually and directly to the locker room. The Warriors ruled Curry out with a left ankle sprain shortly after he left Sunday’s game, which the Warriors went on to lose 112-104.

    Curry his ankle late in the third quarter while preparing to run around a screen on an offensive series. With around three minutes left in the third, Curry gingerly limped into the corner until he was substituted out, immediately getting evaluated by Warriors trainers on the bench.

    Curry spent the next six minutes of game action stretching his ankle, using a green stretch band to try to work out the injury. He  with 8:08 left in the fourth quarter, but on the first offensive set, Curry re-tweaked the ankle while trying to set a screen in the corner near the Warriors bench.

    He immediately hobbled off the floor, even as the game continued behind him, and seemed unable to put weight on his ankle. Warriors guard Gary Payton II had to help Curry back to the locker room, which NBC Sports Bay Area showed from a hallway camera.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Curry was known for habitual ankle injuries early in his Warriors career, and they may have played a part in his initial extension the maximum amount. But for the most part, he’s been any significant injuries or issues since then.

    For a Warriors roster  a clear and obvious second scoring option aside Curry, losing the former MVP and this summer’sfor Team USA would leave a massive hole on Golden State’s roster.
