WNBA Team Fires Head Coach After Two Seasons

The WNBA Finals are underway with the  and Minnesota Lynx battling. While those franchises are competing for the championship trophy, other organizations are making difficult decisions about the future.

One of those teams, the Dallas Wings, that head coach Latricia Trammell had been fired after two seasons.

Dallas ended the 2024 season 9-31. The Wings concluded the season on a nine-game losing streak and finished 11th in the 12-team league. There was also an 11-game losing streak earlier in the season.

It was a stark drop from Trammell’s first season with the organization, when the Wings were 22-18, good for second place in the Western Conference.

Despite early success with the organization, Dallas decided to pull the plug on Trammell.

Before Trammell received her first head coaching opportunity at the WNBA level in 2023, she served as an assistant with the Los Angeles Sparks from 2019-22. She was also an assistant for the San Antonio Stars in 2017.

Trammell started her coaching journey in 1994 when she was an assistant coach at Midwest City High School in Oklahoma.

Trammell is the fourth head coach to be fired during the WNBA playoffs. Before she was dismissed, Teresa Weatherspoon of the  Curt Miller of the Los Angeles Sparks and Tanisha Wright of the Atlanta Dream were dismissed.

Las Vegas Aces guard Kate Martin (20) and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22).
