Andrew Cavenagh must take note as Graeme Souness reveals concerning issue on Rangers recruitment
Graeme Souness has shared what Rangers are lacking in their squad that would have seen them clear of the chasing pack.
While the Ibrox outfit are still in contention to claim the Scottish Premiership title, Souness believes that it did not need to be such a close race.
Currently, Rangers are a point behind Hearts on the SPFL table, but could go into the split as league leaders.

Graeme Souness believes Rangers lack a quality striker
Souness was at Ibrox for the Scottish Cup clash between Rangers and Celtic, and believed that the hosts were the better team despite losing on penalties.
However, he pointed out the fact that the Light Blues are missing a clinical striker who can find the back of the net regularly and show composure in front of goal.
While Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi have chipped in with a few crucial goals, they have not taken the Scottish Premiership by storm.

This should send a message to Andrew Cavenagh that the summer recruitment should focus on a striker capable of leading the line and scoring goals on a regular basis.
Souness told Rangers Review: “I was at the Old Firm game a few weeks ago – Rangers were the better team with 24 efforts [on goal] and didn’t score, Celtic had one shot in 120 minutes of play and won on penalties.
“Rangers are missing a striker who can put the ball away. If they had that, they’d be out of sight. But they’ve come from nowhere since changing the manager, and Danny Rohl has done well. Momentum is with them, but they still need to go to Tynecastle and Parkhead.”

Are Rangers planning to sign new strikers this summer?
There are a number of strikers that have been linked with a move to Ibrox over the past few weeks.
The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Bramall Lane, and the Gers have looked to capitalise on it by making contact.
Leeds United’s Joe Gelhardt is also admired at Ibrox after his impressive season out on loan at Hull City.
Rangers are also eyeing Philippe Keny, the FC Zurich striker linked with Coventry and Wrexham.
Thus, it is clear that a new striker is being prioritised by the Gers, but it remains to be seen if any of them can prove to be upgrades on the current options at Ibrox.
