Mads Hermansen issues statement after making mistake for West Ham against Aston Villa
Hermansen made a mistake for West Ham against Villa, spilling a long range shot from Morgan Rogers that allowed Ollie Watkins the chance to score their second goal.
Still, the Dane has been in fine form in recent weeks, and he posted a message on Instagram after the game.
Hermansen vows that West Ham will come back stronger after Villa defeat
The goalkeeper posted a collage of images from the game and captioned it: “Not the way we wanted to go in to the international break. We will come back stronger. Thanks for an amazing away end once again.”
Words only go so far of course but West Ham do have a great chance to do exactly what Hermansen is saying.
Would you take relegation if it meant that David Sullivan would leave?! 🤔
Not a nice position to be in – but what would YOU choose if you had to?

In a Premier League context, their next game is a huge one. The Hammers host Wolves and a win for them would see them overtake Spurs in the Premier League table.
It’s likely to be a nervy affair in east London, but the Irons simply have to find a way to claim all three points no matter the situation.

Mads Hermansen stats vs Aston Villa
It wasn’t all bad from Hermansen, glaring mistake aside.
He made four saves in the game, while making seven recoveries and one high claim.
Indeed, Hermansen has been brilliant recently and while that does not mean he gets a free pass, there’s little reason to think he is suddenly going to keep making mistakes.
West Ham are going to need him at his very best in the battles to come.
The decision to sign him from Leicester last summer could yet be vindicated if he helps keep them up.
