Nuno will hope for best case scenario after worrying Crysencio Summerville scenes at West Ham

Nuno Espirito Santo looking sad in the direction of Crysencio Summerville.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping to receive some good news following some worrying scenes involving Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutchman came off the bench as a second-half substitute as West Ham beat Brentford on penalties to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals on Monday.

Though during extra time, Summerville had to play through the pain after taking a knock, hobbling around the pitch with manager Nuno having no substitutions remaining.

The Hammers would secure a quarter-final tie with Leeds, but the thoughts of Nuno and supporters alike will remain with Summerville, who has been the star man at the London Stadium as of late.

With West Ham locked in a relegation battle, the Portuguese coach will be hoping for the best regarding the wideman’s fitness.

Crysencio Summerville has revived West Ham season

At the turn of the year, the Hammers looked down and out, before a Summerville-inspired 2-1 win against Tottenham turned the tide of the season.

Nuno’s side sit 18th in the Premier League, just a point from safety.

Across both the Premier League and FA Cup, Summerville has taken on a talismanic role at the London Stadium – recently securing a crucial three points away at Fulham.

The Dutchman is a player who is always looking to make something happen from his favoured left-hand side, and has always been a momentum shifter with his pace and ability to drive with the ball.

Though his continued development has seen him develop into a real star for West Ham, with the important numbers in the final third now continuing to flow.

The Hammers have been craving a difference-maker, and Summerville has stepped up – leading the survival bid in the process.

West Ham will hope to keep up momentum

Since the Spurs win in January, West Ham have looked and performed like a mid-table side in the Premier League, rather than the relegation candidates that they have been from the off.

Though their points tally still leaves them in the bottom three, Nottingham Forest picked up their first point under Vitor Pereira last time out, thanks to a 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

The Hammers face City themselves at the London Stadium on Saturday, before they take on Aston Villa on the eve of the international break.

With Summerville’s fitness in doubt, Nuno will be desperate for this not to stall his side’s momentum heading into the pause.

If West Ham can put some points on the board across their next two, their survival bid would be strengthened massively, while they will carry crucial momentum to the other side of the international break, and an FA Cup semi-final could also be on the cards for the third time in Nuno’s career.
