Andy Halliday left shocked after what he see’s from Rangers set-pieces vs Celtic

Andy Halliday slammed Rangers for their poor set-piece deliveries against Celtic in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup on Sunday.

The former Gers ace was shocked to see the hosts waste their opportunities from dead-ball situations as Andreas Skov Olsen and Mikey Moore failed to make the most of things at Ibrox on 8 March.

There were several moments where the Light Blues’ execution of their set-piece deliveries was just disappointing.

As soon as James Tavernier came on at Ibrox, the Govan side looked more threatening from corners and balls coming into the box, but Danny Rohl failed to get the better of Martin O’Neill’s team.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have spent a fortune assembling the Gers’ squad, but that quality was nowhere to be seen against Celtic.

O’Neill’s team have been depleted and are enduring one of their worst seasons, yet the Light Blues didn’t have an answer for them in the penalty shootout loss.

The Hoops made several mistakes in the backline, but the German manager’s attackers were unable to capitalise on most of their chances.

Rohl’s future has come under scrutiny at Ibrox, and their inability to punish a poor Celtic side will surely be concerning for fans in G51.

The Govan side’s recent performances in the William Hill Premiership highlight that there’s a far greater issue that needs to be addressed in the final few games of the campaign.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Halliday said, “Rangers’ delivery from set-pieces today has been shocking. It’s another brilliant area of the field and you have to try and make Celtic defend. It’s another poor one.”

Scottish football fans could see something happen for the first time since 1954-55 season

Rangers and Celtic have faced crises this season, allowing Hearts to take the lead in the William Hill Premiership.

Derek McInnes’ team are looking to break the duopoly in the Scottish top flight by becoming the first team other than the two Glasgow clubs to win the league since the 1984-85 season.

While Celtic have qualified for the next round of the Scottish Cup, there’s no guarantee they’ll win it.

St Mirren won the Premier Sports Cup final against the Hoops, and if the Old Firm sides fail to lift silverware, it will be the first time that has happened since the 1954-55 campaign.
