Rangers Team News Update Before Celtic Clash Gives Danny Rohl a Heartbeat of Fresh Tactical Dilemma

Danny Rohl given fresh food for thought after Rangers team news update vs Celtic

Danny Rohl looks weary on the touchline for Rangers
Rangers will have a full squad to choose from ahead of this weekend’s Old Firm.

Despite going 2-0 up, the Light Blues could only settle for a draw against Celtic last weekend, but they will have their chance to exact revenge with the two sides set to face off against each other in the Scottish Cup.

With a six-point gap between them and Hearts, the Gers’ title hopes are slowly starting to slip away again, meaning this may be their only real shot at winning a trophy in Danny Rohl‘s first season in charge.

And their chances of doing so have been boosted by the fact that the German will have a full squad to choose from this weekend, with a dilemma to emerge as a result of it.

Connor Barron decision to be made vs Celtic

Having a full squad has been a rare occurrence for Rohl since he took charge at Ibrox, but that is the boost he has been handed ahead of this weekend’s clash with Celtic.

And among those due to return from injury is Connor Barron, who had been sidelined since the 2-0 win over Aberdeen at the start of January.

Rohl has confirmed that the midfielder has trained ahead of the clash, and is likely to be in contention.

Prior to that, Barron had started 13 of the 19 Scottish Premiership fixtures he had featured in this season, showcasing the importance he had previously held.

His return gives Rohl the option to incorporate him back into the starting 11 at a useful time of the season, with Nicolas Raskin’s performances starting to falter, as demonstrated by the Sofascore graphic below.

Raskin struggled to have a positive influence against Celtic last time out, and Barron’s return could afford him a game out of the team, in a bid to get him back to his best.

Who else could return to starting lineup for Rangers?

With a trophy up for grabs, and possibly the only one of the season, Rohl will not want to make too many changes to hamper their chances of winning.

However, a few are to be expected, and another could be in the form of Mohamed Diomande.

The Ivorian can be a real livewire for Rangers, and that level of energy was certainly missing in the second half of their latest draw.

Diomande’s last start for the Light Blues was in their 1-1 draw with Motherwell in February, with just 36 minutes of football played since then.
