Youssef Chermiti agent to hand out Rangers footage in latest transfer claim

Youssef Chermiti could potentially be fishing for his next club after his brace for Rangers against Celtic in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.

Former Gers sporting director Gordon Smith believes the Portugal Under-21 international agent may be reaching out to interested parties and showing them footage of his last five goals.

The centre-forward scored a magnificent overhead kick in the Old Firm derby on 1 March, but Martin O’Neill’s team came back from two goals behind to secure a 2-2 draw.

Danny Rohl’s faith in the former Everton ace has been repaid after his hat-trick against Hearts in the 4-2 win and the two impressive goals against the Hoops.

Andrew Cavenagh set to make hefty profit on Youssef Chermiti sale at Rangers

In the winter transfer window, there were claims that Fenerbahce wanted to sign Chermiti for £13million, but the Gers turned down the offer.

    MORE RANGERS STORIES

Back then, many fans wondered why the Light Blues wouldn’t accept a significant sum for the Portuguese striker who had failed to live up to expectations at Ibrox after completing an £8m move from Everton last summer.

It looks like Andrew Cavenagh will now feel vindicated, and Chermiti will surely be on the radar of different clubs in the coming months and years if he continues his red-hot form.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun on 2 March, Smith said, “I can imagine his agent will be sending his last five goals to all the clubs out there asking, ‘Would you be interested in this boy?’.”

If the previous offer that the Glaswegian outfit turned down for the young forward is anything to go by, then it wouldn’t be surprising to see them price him at over £20m in the summer.

Chermiti could have a big future in Govan, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

Ibrox hierarchy to make silly money on another summer signing

Rangers signed Djeidi Gassama for £2.2m from Sheffield Wednesday last summer, and he’s arguably developed into an eight-figure player.

The French youngster had an electric start to his career at Ibrox, but he’s gone off the boil in recent months.

There was interest from Monaco in Gassama in the winter transfer window, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see other top teams come knocking on the Glaswegian outfit’s door sooner rather than later.

The previous ownership were criticised for an underwhelming player trading model in Govan, but Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have a chance to change that.
