Karren Brady beaming as message shared to Nuno at Craven Cottage made public

West Ham’s vice-chair Karren Brady expressed her delight for Nuno Espirito Santo after the 1-0 win at Fulham.

That is according to Roshane Thomas of The Athletic, who claimed the West Ham figurehead congratulated the former Wolves boss after his post-match press conference at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.

It looked like Nuno‘s side would have to settle for a hard-fought draw against their London neighbours, but Crysencio Summerville’s cool finish, off the back of Bernd Leno’s error, secured them all three points.

That huge result drew West Ham level with 17th-placed Nottingham Forest and just one point adrift of rivals Tottenham in 16th.

Brady, and the rest of the West Ham board, is not exactly a popular figure amongst the Hammers fanbase but going by her alleged post-match remarks, she appeared to be delighted by the victory.

    MORE WEST HAM STORIES

West Ham appear to have chosen the right man

When Nuno took over from Graham Potter in September, there were some grumblings about his appointment.

The former Nottingham Forest boss is known more for his counter-attacking tactics, rather than playing the free-flowing football West Ham fans crave.

But since a defeat to Forest in early January, West Ham have gone from looking like relegation fodder to having a genuine chance of staying up.

Incidentally, according to Thomas, after Nuno’s Fulham press conference, he was flanked by West Ham’s head of first-team security, Nicholas Willetts, near the entrance of the executive box.

The pair were then greeted by Brady and her husband Paul Peschisolido. The report states that they congratulated Nuno, and a “beaming” Brady said: “So happy for you.”

There are still nine games to go but West Ham have managed to reel in a number of sides in their bid to stave off relegation to the Championship and for them, that can only be a good thing.

For now, it seems like West Ham made the right decision in hiring Nuno after a string of poor appointments.

    What next for West Ham?

West Ham’s win, coupled with Forest’s draw at Manchester City on Wednesday, has cut the Hammers’ gap to their relegation rivals.

There are just three points between Leeds United in 15th and the east London outfit in 18th. Of all the teams in that section of the table, West Ham are the form team right now.

However, they arguably have the toughest run-in on paper, and their upcoming fixtures may see their gap to safety increase again.

    West Ham Premier League table

After taking on Brentford in round five of the FA Cup on Monday, West Ham host Premier League title hopefuls City on 14 March at London Stadium.

They then round off the month away to fourth-placed Aston Villa, although Unai Emery’s men appear to be running out of steam.

But with the form West Ham are in right now, not many would be too surprised to see them pick up points in the coming weeks.
